The Environmental Protection Commission recently approved draft air quality regulations for official public consultation.

Summary of proposed rule changes

This regulatory proposal will require the electronic submission of all air emissions reports, air permit applications and other related air quality documents, effective January 1, 2023.

Under the proposed rule changes, minor sources of air emissions will be required to file emissions data using the National and Local Emissions Inventory System (SLEIS). In addition, under the proposed rule updates, major and minor sources of air emissions will be required to use the Iowa Environmental Applications System for Air (Iowa EASY Air) for all permit applications. aerial construction and operation of Title V.
