Lucknow: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of protecting Minister of State (Interior) Ajay Mishra and his son Ashish because of their status as upper caste.
He also alleged that if Ashish’s name had been Atiq, the BJP government would have bulldozed his house.
The opposition has vehemently demanded the dismissal of Ajay Mishra from the post of Union minister following his controversial comments and his son’s alleged involvement in the murder of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, South Korea. Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a public rally in Balrampur, Owaisi asked, âWhy isn’t Narendra Modi removing Ajay Mishra from Cabinet? If the father is a minister, the vehicle belonged to him, he caused the death of 5 farmers, he warns people and later five farmers are killed, why doesn’t Narendra Modi fire him? “
“It is because Ajay Mishra is from the upper caste, the elections are approaching and they will not get the votes of the upper caste. If he had been called Atiq instead of Ashish, would they not have did not use a bulldozer on his house? ” said the head of AIMIM.
Earlier today, the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, who was arrested in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, was remanded in custody for 14 days and placed in Covid quarantine in the district prison of Lakhimpur Kheri.
Ashish Mishra was brought to court late Saturday night after about 12 hours of questioning about the violence, in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed.
Ashish was appointed to an FIR following allegations he was in one of the vehicles that mowed down farmers protesting the visit of UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, last Sunday.
Two BJP workers and their driver were reportedly lynched by angry farmers. Local journalist Raman Kashyap also died in the violence.
